Start date:22/08/2011
Emma is an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist, joining Enable Therapy Services as a case manager in 2011.
As a core member of the Head office team, she actively contributes to service developments, takes a key role in the mentorship of new team members and promotes continued professional development within Enable Therapy Services.
After qualifying from the University College of Ripon and York St. John in 1993, Emma has worked in a range of NHS services in the Yorkshire region, both community and hospital based and has a breadth of experience of working with clients presenting with complex and multi-pathological needs. She can undertake evidence based functional assessments of daily living skills which identify the client’s physical, cognitive, psychosocial, social and perceptual needs to identify rehabilitation goals.
She uses her highly developed organisational and communication skills to ensure clients are supported through their rehabilitation journey following an accident or injury. Her special interests are in the care of older people, particularly those who experience falls and balance problems. Emma also has experience of working in a Mobility Service, providing assessment and advice on driving, to individuals sustaining injuries following an accident or with long term disabilities. This also included identifying solutions to car access problems.
Emma is committed to providing a client centred approach at all stages of the rehabilitation process, acting as an advocate for clients wishing to improve their functional independence. She has a conscientious approach to her work and a warm, sensitive and professional manner with her clients, colleagues and others.
Emma is a member of the Case Management Society UK, the British Association of Occupational Therapists and Health Professions Council and maintains her registration through continual professional development.
